The Executive Council of the IABU is scheduled to meet on January 13-14, 2008 at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, Bangkok, Thailand. The First Meeting of the Executive Council of The International Association of Buddhist Universities (IABU)

The Executive Council of the International Association of Buddhist Universities is meeting for the first time in Bangkok next week. The two-day meeting takes place at its Headquarters, Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, on 13 and 14 January 2008/2551. All the seventeen members of the Council are expected to attend the meeting.

The Council is expected to discuss important organisational issues in an effort to strengthen its operation and also to decide to hold in the new campus of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University a general meeting of the Member-Institutions with a submit and an academic conference.

Sunday, 13th January 2551/2008

Morning Session: 09:00-11:30 am.

• The meeting begins with the participants paying homage to the Triple Gem
• Executive Chairman's welcome speech
• A brief introduction of the participants by the Executive Secretary
• General discussion on the IABU as an organization: Briefing on the IABU Constitution
• Direction and special characteristics of the IABU
• Contributions by and benefits for IABU member-institutions

Afternoon Session: 13:00-14:30 with a break between 15:00-15:15

• General discussion on the preparations for the Second General Symposium of the IABU in 2551/2008 which would include: From the academic side, choosing dates for the three-day Second General Symposium of the IABU
• selecting a theme forming different subcommittees
• deadlines for academic papers;
• From the administrative side, The convening of a submit of the heads of member-institutions
• A meeting of patrons
• General Symposium (BAGM) of all member-institutions.

Monday, 14th January 2551/2008

• General discussion on the running of the IABU which would include: work distribution between the E.C members the function of the Secretariat
